What do we do?

All young people deserve a fair chance!

Young people who do not get a fair  chance in life, usually encounter a lot of problems. They are excluded and end up in social isolation. 

In most cases these vulnerable young people lack self-confidence. Rise Above Barriers tries to prevent these vulnerable young people from dropping out from school by guiding them.

We try to contribute to the behavioural pattern of these young people. We do this by giving them general education in life-lessons, through sport and other means. 

We talk with them about daily life and daily struggles. We explain them how to deal with this on the basis of our own experience. 

All coaches that work with Rise Above Barriers have their own past to tell from. 

Rise Above Barriers participates in different kind of sports.
Most common sports are:

* Fitness & Strength

* Kickboxing

* Baseball 

* Soccer

* Basketball 

The coaches of Rise Above Barriers will be guiding vulnerable young people, promoting full ownership and taking responsibility in their actions. We try to stimulate them to participate in daily society to combat social isolation and prevent problematical behaviour. 

We do everything in our power to prevent vulnerable young people from dropping out of society or school. With the help of guidance and sports we reintegrate them and tackle problematic behaviour. 

The main issues we address and work on with the youngsters are:

- Self-confidence 

- Discipline

- Character

- Respect and Structure

Rise Above Barriers also pays attention to the social resilience and self-reliance of these young people. We work on possible barriers such as: Fear, Insecurity, Self-confidence, Personal struggle etc.

Of course, the future is also very important and there must be a perspective for the youngsters. That is why we also offer the opportunity to prepare young people for a study, work or sports career abroad. We teach them to become independent in the broadest sense.

Think about simple things like cooking a meal, doing laundry and be responsible with money.

We also offer the opportunity to help young people to find an internship or work.
